Cleanroom Design Build

  • 2010 Microstamping, Somerset, NJ. 2000 ft2 freestanding ISO 7.

  • 2009 Homestake Mine, Lead, SD. ISO 6 cleanroom with special construction to limit Radon gas influence on physics experiments for Dept of Energy. Located 1800 feet underground.
  • 2009 iMark Molding, Woodville, WI. ISO 7 injection molding cleanroom with movable press enclosures.
  • 2009 OptionCare Pharmacy, Sauk Rapids, MN. USP 797 pharmacy upgrade.
  • 2009 Lumen Biomedical, Maple Grove, MN. ISO 7 modular cleanroom for medical device assembly.
  • 2009 Dalsa, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Softwall cleanroom enclosures.
  • 2009 LIGO Project, WA and LA. 20 high movable softwall with special ceiling interface for scientific instruments.
  • 2008 Hutchinson Tech. +/-0.1 deg. F constant temperature metrology testing facility with fully redundant stand by mechanical support equipment.
  • 2007 Parker Hannifin NY. +/- 0.1 deg F constant temperature clean manufacturing room.
  • 2007 Worldwide Dispensers, Lester Prairie, MN. ISO 7 injection molding cleanroom with 18 ceiling to accommodate bridge crane.
  • Fairchild Space, Fredericksburg MD. This system used small air handling units (manufactured by Gerbig Engineering) with sensible cooling coils with a louvered wall at the far end of the room. A bridge crane was installed inside the cleanroom. The ceiling height was 28. Gerbig Engineering was the designer and constructed the project in partnership with AP Technology of Minneapolis.
  • 3M Decatur AL. Two large crossflow projects were built for 3M Optical Film Division in Decatur, Alabama. These were large buildings with major air handling systems. Gerbig Engineering was contracted for the design, manufacture, and installation of the wall systems and HEPA filter framing system. We also certified the projects
  • 3M Greenville SC. Another crossflow project for 3M Optical Film Division. This project used 4X4 modules mounted in our AireCell framing system. The ceiling height was 20 feet in the crossflow room. Our work also consisted of designing and installing special crossflow systems for their extruder area.
  • ATMI Bloomington MN. This GMP crossflow room was completed this past fall. Gerbig Engineering provided construction drawings, installation of the AireCell system, and certification. It also used 4X4 fan-filter modules. There is also a 600 fan-module project connected the crossflow room using ceiling mounted fan modules with the AireCell wall system.

Cleanroom Qualification

  • 2010 Medtronic Singapore Operations, Singapore. Overall responsibility for CEA documentation including URS, VP, DQ, FQ, IQ, OQ, and PQ of production controlled environment and purified water IQ and OQ. Included site work in Singapore.
  • 2009 Surmodics, Minneapolis, MN. Facilities Qualification of remodeled production cleanrooms including documentation of all mechanical systems, cleanroom certification, and walk-in cooler temperature mapping.
  • 2009 iMark Molding, Woodville, WI. Cleanroom contamination control survey consisting of extensive review of clean manufacturing operations, equipment and procedures conducted on behalf of owner for quality purposes.
  • 2009 Pioneer Hi-Bred International (DuPont), Iowa City, IA. Site survey and HVAC assessment to recommend and evaluate contamination control in lab facility.
  • 2009 Medtronic Ablation Frontiers, Carlsbad, CA. Complete cleanroom qualification including documents, all field testing and final reports for production CEA. VP, URS, DQ, FQ, IQ, OQ, PQ.
  • 2009 Medtronic Cryocath, Montreal, Canada. Complete cleanroom qualification including documents, all field testing and final reports for production CEA. Construction protocol, VP, DQ, FQ, IQ, OQ, PQ.
  • 2008 American Medical Systems, Minnetonka, MN. Cleanroom contamination control survey consisting of extensive review of clean manufacturing operations, HVAC and process utility equipment and procedures conducted on behalf of owner for quality purposes.
  • 2007-2010 Medtronic Rice Creek Central, Fridley, MN. Overall responsibility for CEA documentation for multiple divisions/rooms for major remodel of production cleanrooms. VP, DQ, FQ, IQ, OQ, and PQ of production controlled environments and purified water systems IQ and OQ.
  • 1998-2012, various clients. Contamination control surveys and cleanroom operations review, and cleanroom certification and facility and equipment validation including for customers including 3M (various divisions), Molex, Coloplast, Medtronic, General Mills, ATMI, Beckman-Coulter, CIMA Labs, Upsher-Smith Labs, ANI pharmaceuticals, Ecolab, Honeywell, Pace Life Sciences, Seagate, Smiths Medical, St. Jude Medical, Cyberoptics, Emerson/Tescom, and governmental and scientific institutions.

Testing, Commissioning, and Audits

  • 2010 3M Cynthiana KY: Testing, commissioning, and Energy Audit of coating production line.
  • 2010 3M Eagan: Energy Audit and testing of central automation system with (15) air handling units serving industrial production and office areas.
  • 2009 3M Cynthiana KY: Commissioning and testing of new central automation system and (7) built up air handling units serving industrial production areas.
  • 2008 Medtronic Fridley, MN: Retro-commissioning of (2) 60,000 cfm critical air handling units.
  • 2008 3M Flemington NJ: Commissioning and testing of 230 ton chiller, make-up air handling unit, (20) process exhaust systems, (7) replaced roof top air handling units and new central automation system serving production and office areas.
  • 2008 Hutchinson Tech: Commissioning and Testing of constant temperature metrology testing facility. (5) Air handling units serving (4) cleanrooms.
  • 2007 Parker Hannifin NY: Commissioning and Testing of Mechanical systems serving a critical constant temperature manufacturing room.
  • 2007 3M Murray UT: Retro-Commissioning and Testing of (2) 300 ton air handling units, boiler plant, and (4) computer room units serving 6 story office tower and data center.
  • 2007 Tech Group, Walker, MI : Commissioning of new chilled water system, compressed air system, and building electrical system.
  • 2006 3M Menomonie WI: Commissioning and testing of (4) air handling units, (2) desiccant dryers, and (6) process exhaust fans serving critical environment manufacturing area.
  • 2005 3M Petaluma CA: Commissioning of upgraded central control system along with retro-commissioning of central chiller and boiler plant, (12) air handling units, and (18) exhaust systems serving office and clean-room manufacturing area.
